Rev. Julie Lawton-Gallard
Minister
Julie started in paid ministry at the age of 19 as a youth worker. She completed the Order of St Stephen and served the Uniting church in Crookwell, the Riverina Presbytery, Wagga Wagga, Galston and Cobar before deciding she’d prefer to be more broadly engaged in ministry. At the time, the church was offering transition from youth worker to ordination, and although hesitant, believed God was calling her into this ministry. During transition Julie worked as a New Faith developer in the developing South West Sydney. In March 2009 she was ordained as a minister of the word and was employed 50% at Tahmoor Uniting Church and 50% Camden Country at Camden Country UC. In 2014 she began full time ministry at Goulburn and District Uniting Churches (10 separate preaching places). Goulborn UC was also her home church, which made for interesting and rich dynamics.
In June of 2020, Julie and Jaye discerned the need to move and prayed that God might allow us to be closer to Kaylah who is in Brisbane and Tyson who is in Apple Tree Creek just north of Bundaberg. Julie has 4 adult children, Harrison, Teagan, Callum and Chloe, and 2 step children Kaylah and Tyson, she is married to Jaye Gallard who is a floor coverer.
Julie’s interests include good coffee with better company, her family, golf, fishing and gardening. She is excited by the move to Southport and can not wait to get to know you all and see how God is working amongst you already. Believing this is where she’s meant to be, she is excited to see what God will do as we work together to bring the Kingdom of Heaven to the people of Southport.
